About the Event

Welcome to the first Bernburger Saaleschwimmen, an exciting aquatic event hosted by the German Life-Saving Association (DLRG) Bernburg on September 6, 2026. This unique day at the banks of the River Saale offers swimmers of all ages and skill levels a chance to dive in and enjoy the refreshing waters.
The program kicks off with three main swimming competitions:
- Jedermann Race: A friendly competition for everyone who can swim, starting at 13:45 PM. Swimmers will cover a distance of 200 meters downstream along the river's natural current.

- Fortgeschrittene Race: For more experienced swimmers, this race begins at 13:00 PM and challenges participants to complete 200 meters upstream followed by another 200 meters downstream. This event tests endurance against both the flow of water and your own limits.
- Sportliche Race: Aimed at competitive athletes, it starts early at noon with a total distance of 800 meters over two legs: first swimming 400 meters upstream and then turning to swim another 400 meters downstream. This race offers both physical challenge and picturesque views along the river.
In addition to these races, there's an entertaining Duck Race at 2pm where participants can purchase rubber ducks for €5 each as a fun way to support a good cause. The proceeds from this event will go directly toward supporting youth activities organized by DLRG Bernburg.
Registration is open until September 4th and costs €10 per participant. Those interested in commemorating the day with an exclusive race t-shirt can purchase one for an additional €12.50 at registration. All participants must be at least ten years old and hold a bronze swimming badge to ensure safety standards are met.
