The 2027 edition of the Eschbachtalsperre 6-Hour Race invites runners to explore the scenic beauty and challenging terrain around Remscheid, Germany. Set for Saturday, May 22nd, this race offers participants a unique opportunity to push their limits within a picturesque setting. Registration begins at 07:00 AM with start numbers available until 08:15 AM. A brief introduction precedes the official start at 08:30 AM. The event concludes exactly six hours later at 2:30 PM, followed by an immediate measurement of remaining meters as runners make their way back to the starting point. The race course is a challenging yet rewarding loop around the Eschbachtalsperre reservoir, featuring a compact and shaded route on firm forest ground. Each lap covers approximately three kilometers with minimal asphalt surfaces and includes a gentle elevation change of about 20 meters over its entire length. Runners will circle against the clock direction, passing by the supply point after crossing the dam. The race organizers provide generous support along the way, including refreshments every three kilometers at the starting location near the hotel. These stations offer still water (the best Bergisches tap water), a variety of soft drinks like cola and MezzoMix, as well as fruit such as bananas and watermelon slices alongside chocolate bars and cookies. For those interested in bringing their own supplies, there is an area designated for personal food and drink tables. Small backpacks may also be stored under the black folding tables at this zone if space permits. Participants are advised to leave larger bags in their cars whenever possible. After the race concludes, a ceremony honoring top finishers will take place from 4:00 PM onwards inside the hotel’s conference room where small prizes are drawn among all competitors rather than awarded exclusively to winners. Entrance fees vary depending on when you register. Early bird rates of €38 apply until March 31st and increase to €48 up until May 8th, with late registrations costing a flat fee of €65 payable in cash at the event site before the start time minus half an hour. The race is strictly regulated; no sticks, bicycles, strollers, or unauthorized companions are allowed on course. Additionally, runners must use designated facilities and avoid littering to maintain environmental standards. Violations could result in disqualification without refund of entry fees. Participants aiming for a distance greater than 45 kilometers can have their results published by the DUV (German Ultramarathon Association). Photos taken during the event may be shared publicly with no payment due from runners, and official race numbers should remain visible throughout the competition to ensure accurate tracking. With its serene setting and supportive community atmosphere, this year’s Eschbachtalsperre 6-Hour Race promises an unforgettable experience for endurance athletes of all levels.
