Experience the rugged beauty of Colorado's backcountry at the annual Dolores Trail Challenge. This exhilarating race offers three distinct routes through breathtaking mountain landscapes, each with its own unique charm and obstacles. The 33-mile Beat Down is a grueling test for seasoned riders, winding through dense forests and rocky trails before descending into open meadows. The Overlook course, at 18 miles long, provides a more manageable yet still challenging experience, perfect for those seeking an impressive accomplishment without the full marathon distance. For those looking to explore a bit less terrain but with equal excitement, the 15-mile Goose route is your choice. Participants will navigate through scenic trails marked by signs and color-coded flags at key intersections, ensuring clear direction even in remote areas. Volunteers stationed along the course are ready to offer assistance or guidance as needed. Should you encounter another rider who appears to be struggling, please inform the next volunteer you see with their approximate location for timely support. Your safety is a top priority, so come prepared with adequate water and nutrition. Cell phone coverage can be limited in some areas, but rest assured that all bike races will be timed using RFID chips by Rocky Mountain Timing. Finishing times are accessible on their website later the same day. The Dolores Rotary Club has generously offered prizes for outstanding performances. In the 33-mile Beat Down and 18-mile Overlook categories (both male and female), medals await the top three finishers, along with cash awards of $100, $75, and $50 respectively. Similarly, in the 15-mile Goose race, you can aim for a medal or prize money for finishing among the top three. A special record-breaking incentive is also available: anyone who breaks the existing 33-mile Beat Down time set in 2020 will receive a cash reward of $500. This event promises an unforgettable adventure through nature's own terrain, making it something truly unique and rewarding for every participant.
