2026 Kim Dae-jung Marathon

The Kim Dae-jung Marathon, set to take place on November 22, 2026, offers runners the opportunity to explore Mokpo through three distinct race distances: 5km, 10km, and Half Marathon. This event is part of a larger athletic celebration that includes the 39th Jeonnam-Gwangju Unified Special City Superintendent's Marathon.
Registration fees for participants are KRW 40,000 for both the Half Marathon and 10km races, while those opting for the shorter 5km distance will pay KRW 20,000. The event is designed to accommodate up to 1,000 runners in the Half Marathon category, with an additional capacity of 2,500 participants each for both the 10km and 5km races.
Race day starts early at Mokpo Sports Complex, where the Half Marathon kicks off at 9:10 AM, followed by the 10km race beginning promptly at 9:20 AM. The shortest distance, the 5km run, will commence at 9:35 AM. All participants receive a comprehensive event guide and are provided with essential items such as a race bib, timing chip, finisher medal, certificate of completion, snacks, gift, and insurance coverage.
The course itself winds through scenic routes around Mokpo, offering runners the chance to experience local landmarks while competing against their personal bests. The atmosphere is lively and supportive, with enthusiastic spectators cheering on participants throughout the event.
Refunds for registration are available only during the designated period before race day and come with a 10% administrative fee deduction. After this window closes, no refunds will be issued.
