2026 Lee Il-seon Memorial Marathon

The Lee Il-seon Memorial Marathon, set to take place on the picturesque island of Ulleungdo, celebrates the legacy of Dr. Lee Il-seon with two distinct categories: a 10 km run and a leisurely 4.4 km walk. Scheduled for Saturday, October 3, 2026, from 8:00 to 11:00 AM, participants will gather at Nari Basin Event Grounds in Ulleungdo.
The event offers runners the chance to explore the scenic beauty of Nari Basin while honoring Dr. Lee Il-seon's contributions to society. Registration for this unique race is open from July 14 through September 22, 2026, on a first-come, first-served basis based on payment order.
Participants will receive commemorative T-shirts and umbrellas as well as medals, raffle tickets, race bibs, water bottles, and complimentary sanchae bibimbap lunch. Shuttle services are also provided to ensure easy access for all attendees.
The 10 km run challenges runners with a course that winds through the heart of Nari Basin, offering breathtaking views along the way. The walk category is designed for those who wish to enjoy the scenery at their own pace while still participating in this meaningful event. Both categories will start promptly at 8:30 AM.
Entry fees are KRW 50,000 for general participants and KRW 40,000 for residents of Ulleungdo. Late entries may be accepted if space remains, but commemorative T-shirts might not be available in all sizes or could be replaced with alternative gifts.
Results will be based on gun time without the use of timing chips. On-site certificates are provided to participants upon completion of their race.
Participants should note that roads will remain open during the event and staff members will guide runners at key points along the course. Event insurance is included, but it's recommended for individuals to purchase personal medical expense insurance as well.
Event organizers reserve the right to use participant photos for promotional purposes, media coverage, and other public uses without additional compensation or notification. Refunds are available until September 22, 2026; after this date, refunds may exclude costs incurred for gifts, bibs, and accommodations.
In case of cancellation due to natural disasters, event organizers will ship out any remaining gifts and refund the balance minus these expenses.
