2026 Santa Shuffle Halifax: Fun Run & Elf Walk

The 2026 Santa Shuffle Halifax Fun Run & Elf Walk returns to the charming streets of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia, marking its annual tradition as part of the city's winter festivities. The race is set for December 5th and promises a festive morning filled with fun and fundraising in support of The Salvation Army.
The event kicks off at Centennial Park on Lower Sackville Road just before dawn, when sleigh bells ring out across the crisp, clear air. Runners gather under the winter sky as temperatures hover around -0.9°C, setting up their bibs amidst the park's lush greenery. The atmosphere is buoyant with holiday cheer, enhanced by Santa Claus and elves who decorate the entrance area.
Participants have two options: a 5K Fun Run or a shorter 1K Elf Walk. Both courses follow Centennial Park’s terrain, which offers firm footing despite the chill in the air. The route begins at the park's entrance before heading eastward along tree-lined paths towards the Halifax Regional Municipality Administration Building and then looping back through the park for scenic views of the surrounding neighbourhood.
At the finish line, runners are greeted with a unique medal and Christmas Tree Ornament as a keepsake for completing their course. Elf Walkers will enjoy similar festivities but on a smaller scale to ensure everyone has ample space to move comfortably. Aid stations are strategically placed along the 5K route to provide water and encouragement.
