Nestled along Norfolk's picturesque coastline, the Winter Weavers Ultramarathons present an exhilarating challenge for seasoned runners. This annual event features two distinct routes: a grueling 100km course starting at Great Yarmouth-Broadland Rugby Club and a more manageable yet still demanding 50km route beginning in Stalham. The race day starts early with the longer distance setting off at 7:30 AM, allowing participants ample time to traverse through diverse landscapes under the watchful eye of a strict 19-hour time limit. Meanwhile, runners opting for the shorter but equally challenging 50k course will embark on their journey from Stalham at 9:30 AM within a ten-hour window. The Weavers' Way trail is renowned for its stunning beauty and meticulous marking, guiding athletes through the serene Broads region before culminating in the iconic Cromer Pier. However, this winter edition adds an extra layer of difficulty with potential inclement weather conditions, shorter daylight hours, and possibly wet and muddy terrain that will test even the most experienced runners. To ensure a smooth experience, participants are advised to utilize GPS navigation as signage along Boghopper's route is minimal. Additionally, those planning on taking part in the 50km race can take advantage of coach transfers from Cromer to Stalham for just £12 per person, making travel logistics more convenient. This event not only challenges runners physically but also supports local trail maintenance through a donation of £1 per entrant towards Norfolk Trails. With limited spots available—maxing out at 150 participants—the race is highly sought after by ultramarathon enthusiasts who must be aged 20 or older on the day of the event. Transfers to another runner are permitted until midday Saturday, October 31st, but deferrals will not be accommodated. The Winter Weavers Ultramarathons welcomes all runners regardless of gender identity and offers a safe space for LGBT individuals as well as non-binary participants. For comprehensive details on race day logistics and rules, interested athletes are encouraged to review the full terms and conditions available at www.boghopperraces.co.uk/terms. This event is sanctioned by the Association of Running Clubs under UK Athletics Rules, ensuring fairness and safety throughout. Participants looking for added peace of mind can opt to purchase XCover insurance, providing a financial buffer should unforeseen circumstances prevent them from participating on race day. Join us this winter in celebrating endurance and camaraderie as we weave our way through Norfolk's scenic trails.
