2027 Chilly Half Marathon

The 2027 Chilly Half Marathon, regarded as Ontario’s premier racing event, is scheduled for Sunday, February 28, 2027. This fast, flat, and certified course takes participants through the beautiful downtown and waterfront areas of Burlington, Ontario. Notably, it serves as the only major race in the region held before the Boston Marathon, making it a popular choice for runners looking to test their fitness early in the year.

The race features comprehensive support for athletes, including a wide array of pace groups ranging from 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours 45 minutes. To ensure the safety of all participants and the reopening of city streets, the course has a strict 3-hour and 30-minute time limit. Runners who do not reach specific checkpoints (such as Appleby or Walkers Line) by designated times will be moved to the sidewalks to continue their journey.

Participants receive a long-sleeve technical running shirt as part of their registration, with the option to purchase official 30th Anniversary vests in multiple colors. Finisher medals for the 2027 edition feature a Parisian Art-inspired design. For logistics, the event provides a robust shuttle bus service connecting partner hotels, the Go Station, and local breweries to the drop-off point at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre. On-site baggage check is available for a small donation to the Air Cadets.

The event also serves a philanthropic purpose, with donations supporting the Mental Health and Addictions Program at Joseph Brant Hospital and Hamilton Food Share. Runners are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items to the race site to assist with local hunger relief efforts. All registered participants must pick up their race kits, including their timing bibs and goodie bags, prior to race day, as no kits will be distributed on the morning of the event.
