2.2. Dover Hellfire Crew (Volunteer)

Join the dynamic and supportive team at Hellfire Events for an unforgettable experience as part of the Kent Backyard Ultra Series Crew. This unique running series, which takes place on Saturday, January 10th, 2027, offers a distinctive challenge that goes beyond traditional race formats.
The event is not just another run; it's a journey where participants push their limits and redefine what they thought possible. The course consists of repeating loops over a distance of 4.167 miles every hour, with runners starting on the hour and striving to complete each loop within an hour to continue in the race.
As part of the Crew, you won’t be merely observing from the sidelines; instead, you’ll play a crucial role in making this experience possible for all participants. Whether you join Race Control or Course Ops teams, your responsibilities will vary but are integral to ensuring safety and support throughout the event.
In Race Control, volunteers welcome runners as they arrive, check them in, provide necessary assistance between loops, maintain order at the venue, and offer a calming presence when needed. Meanwhile, those on the Course Ops team ensure that participants stay safe along the route by guiding them through key points, monitoring for hazards, and keeping an eye out for signs of fatigue.
Volunteers are expected to be present, positive, observant, and ready to step in if something feels amiss. The event does not have a fixed end time; it continues until its natural conclusion, which can last well into the night or even early morning hours on Sunday. Volunteers commit to shifts ranging from 6, 9, or 12 hours but are encouraged to stay longer and become deeply involved in the experience.
The Crew is an inclusive community that values mutual support without egos or cliques. It's a place where everyone feels valued and connected. As recognition for your dedication, you’ll receive event credit equivalent to a full Backyard Ultra experience if you volunteer for 12 hours, priority access to future events, a crew medal, refreshments during shifts, and the opportunity to form lasting friendships.

Once signed up, your Crew Coordinator will reach out to confirm availability and preferred roles.
