About the Event

The 22nd Annual Prince Edward Island Marathon returns to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island on October 18th, 2026.
On race morning in Charlottetown, runners will start their journey early under the cool Canadian autumn sky. The temperature hovers around a comfortable 11 degrees Celsius, with humidity at 77.9%. The route takes participants through the heart of Charlottetown's historic downtown area before heading out into residential streets and parks.
This marathon has been running for two decades now, consistently bringing together thousands of participants each year to support the Canadian Mental Health Association – PEI Division. In addition to raising funds, it also helps raise awareness about mental health issues in Prince Edward Island communities. The event includes full marathons, half marathons, 10K and 5K runs for all fitness levels.
The course is certified as a Boston Qualifier and spans various distances including the Full Marathon of 42km, Half Marathon Run/Walk of 21km, and multiple shorter options such as the 16K Run/Walk and 10K Walk. The route weaves through the city's parks and neighborhoods, providing scenic views along the way.
Runners will start at Charlottetown City Hall on Richmond Street East. Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course to ensure support for all participants. Bibs can be picked up at the Charlottetown Event Centre on October 17th between 3pm - 6pm or on race day before the start of your event category. Participants must bring a photo ID, proof of insurance if running in teams, and appropriate attire for cool weather conditions including layers.
The marathon starts from Charlottetown City Hall at 8am sharp. Age requirements vary by distance but generally participants should be over 16 years old to run the full or half marathons.
