Grind the Gravel. Du the Dash returns on October 25, 2026, to wrap up Triathlon PEI's season with a fun fall duathlon (run/bike/run) that promises excitement and camaraderie for all levels of athletes. This unique gravel event challenges participants with both running sections taking place on dirt roads, offering an authentic off-road experience. The race features two distances: Super Sprint and Sprint. Early registrants will receive a Dirt Dash stainless steel mug as a token of appreciation from the organizers, while post-race treats await everyone to celebrate their achievements. The course is designed for durability with rolling hills that test runners’ stamina on both run segments. Cyclists can expect mostly dirt roads throughout the bike loop, punctuated by one short stretch of pavement. All participants are reminded to use gravel or mountain bikes due to the nature of the terrain; road and triathlon bikes will not be permitted. The event kicks off with check-in at 7:30 am sharp from Dromore Woodland Trails Trailhead parking lot (GPS coordinates: 46.2837165 - 62.818263). The race itself commences promptly at 8:30 am, and while the routes are not closed to traffic, clear signage will alert drivers of the ongoing event. Race day rewards include prizes for the top three finishers in each category (male and female), adding an extra layer of competitive spirit. However, participation is open to all; newcomers and seasoned veterans alike can find their footing here. Registration opens early with a requirement that participants must be members of Triathlon PEI, Triathlon NS, Triathlon NB, or Triathlon NL. Annual membership options are available at the official website (https://www.tripei.ca/membership), while day memberships will also be sold on race day for $20 ($10 for under 16s). It’s worth noting that members of other regional triathlon organizations do not need to purchase a Triathlon PEI Day Membership. The distances are as follows: - Super Sprint: Run #1: 3.4km, Bike: 13.8km, Run #2: 0.85km - Sprint Distance: Run #1: 5km, Bike: 27.6km, Run #2: 3.4km For those under the age of 15 (for Super Sprint) and 16 (for Sprint), by December 31st, 2026, this event offers a fantastic introductory experience into duathlon racing. Volunteers are warmly welcomed to join in for race day support; email triathlonpei@gmail.com with any inquiries or volunteer sign-ups. In return, volunteers will receive discount codes towards future Triathlon PEI events as a token of appreciation. Hand timing by RaceClocker ensures accurate results and the event is scheduled during daylight hours (sunrise at 7:43 am), making for optimal visibility on race day. Join us in celebrating another successful season with Grind the Gravel. Du the Dash, where every participant leaves feeling accomplished and part of a vibrant community of athletes.
