The 24-Hour Empower Running Challenge returns to Barrie, Ontario, this August, inviting runners from all walks of life to join forces and raise crucial funds for the Women & Children's Shelter of Barrie. Over an intense period of 24 hours starting at 10:00 AM on August 29th, participants will take part in a grueling yet rewarding journey by completing a series of 5 km loops every hour.
This event is not just about running; it symbolizes the ongoing struggle and resilience needed to escape domestic violence. Each kilometre run represents another step forward for women and children rebuilding their lives after facing adversity. The challenge, covering an impressive total distance of 120 kilometers over a day, mirrors the countless steps required in achieving safety and stability.
Participants can take on this monumental task individually or as part of a relay team, sharing the load with friends to make it more manageable while still contributing significantly to the cause. Whether you're up for running all night through Reid Drive or joining for just one loop at any point during the day, your contribution counts towards empowering those in need.
In addition to participating physically, there are multiple ways to get involved:
