Nestled within the serene landscape of Slovakia's Low Tatras, Slemä Peak stands at an impressive elevation of 1,514 meters above sea level, offering runners a unique and challenging course through some of Europe’s most captivating natural beauty. This event takes place in Liptovská Porúbka on Saturday, August 15th, 2026.
The route begins from the Amfiteáter Skaličná at an elevation of 719 meters and follows a marked tourist path through dense forests and rocky terrain. The race is not just about conquering physical limits but also honoring those who have left their stories in this historically significant region, especially remembering the tragic events of 1944 that shaped its legacy.
Participants will embark on a journey filled with determination and strength as they ascend to Slemä Peak, covering a distance of 5 kilometers with an elevation gain of 800 meters. The course winds through lush greenery and past historical markers, providing runners not only breathtaking views but also insights into the area’s rich heritage.
Race registration is available online for €15 per person or on-site at the event day for €20, which includes refreshments, a commemorative medal, and an entry to a raffle. The race offers categories tailored specifically for juniors, men under 40 years old, men between 40-60 years old, veterans, junior women, women under 40 years old, women aged 40-60, and veteran women.
The starting line-up will form at the SNP Memorial near Brtkovičná Valley entrance at 7:15 AM sharp. The race concludes in a celebratory atmosphere around 10:30 AM back where it all began – the Amfiteáter Skaličná. A time limit of one hour and fifteen minutes is set for runners to reach the refreshment station; those who do not make this cut-off will continue on but won’t be included in the official race results (DNF).
The route includes a pit stop at the new "Picnic Table" beneath an old bunker, where participants are encouraged to bring their own cups or bottles with wide mouths for easy refilling. This event promises more than just athletic achievement; it’s about connecting with nature and history while pushing personal boundaries on one of Slovakia's most revered peaks.
