The 31st Poggensee Triathlon, set to take place on the shores of Lake Poggensee near Bad Oldesloe, is an exciting challenge for both seasoned athletes and newcomers alike. With a total participant limit of 140 (including individual starters and relay teams), this event promises a competitive yet friendly atmosphere.
Registration opens with payment via bank transfer or direct booking through the Spiridon Club’s online portal. Members of the Spiridon-Club Bad Oldesloe can register for free by contacting leistungssport@spiridon-oldesloe.de, while other participants must pay an entry fee when registering through race-result systems like rcsport.
The event caps off at 130 individual starters and ten relay teams, ensuring a manageable yet vibrant competition. The registration deadline is June 21, 2026, or earlier if the participant limit is reached. Any changes to your participation must be communicated directly via info@spiridon-oldesloe.de.
On race day, participants can pick up their starting numbers from 8:30 AM at Freibad Poggensee’s registration desk. A briefing will take place around 9:30 AM where athletes receive important information about the event's rules and regulations set by DTU (Deutsche Triathlon Union).
The race kicks off promptly at 10:00 AM with a wave start, allowing swimmers to self-segregate based on their swimming ability. The swim portion starts in Lake Poggensee followed by cycling and running legs.
Competitors will be timed using electronic chips attached either to the wrist or ankle for easy tracking throughout the race. Chips must be returned immediately after crossing the finish line; failure to do so results in a €30 charge, as this fee is included in your entry cost.
Awards are given out to the top three male and female athletes in each event along with age group winners who also receive certificates and gifts. The ceremony will take place shortly after completion of races at Freibad Poggensee.
Participants can expect refreshments such as water, lemon tea, bananas, cantaloupe melon slices, and energy bars provided throughout the course including key points like km 2.5 turnaround point (the halfway mark). Changing rooms and showers are available for use by all competitors at Freibad Poggensee.
Athletes should be aware that lockers can only be used under their own risk; however, limited secure storage is offered within changing areas for valuables. Spectators wishing to attend the event need to register upon arrival or purchase a ticket if they prefer not to wear an official wristband.
Limited parking spaces are available near Freibad Poggensee with organizers encouraging carpooling arrangements among attendees. To participate, individuals must be 18 years old and possess their assigned start number from this year’s event; there is no requirement for affiliation with any club or organization.
By registering, participants acknowledge that they have trained sufficiently and are in good health to compete safely. They agree to the use of personal data, photos, videos, and interviews captured during the race for promotional purposes by Spiridon Club Bad Oldesloe without seeking additional compensation beyond their entry fee. Additionally, members consent to receiving up to five emails annually about future club events.
Competitors are reminded that leaving the official course or altering start numbers in any way could lead to disqualification. Similarly, using sports equipment like inline skates or bicycles for assistance during competition will result in penalties.
