35. Langstreckenschwimmen Saalfelder Stauseemeile & 33. Aquathlon Alter-Biquadrat

On August 22, 2026, the picturesque Alterbucht Hohenwarte-Stausee near Unterwellenborn will host an exciting aquatic and running challenge. The event offers various options for swimmers of all ages and abilities.
The main attraction is the Saalfelder Stauseemeile, a 1.852-meter swim followed by an 8-kilometer run along scenic trails marked with arrows. Participants must be at least 12 years old to enter this competitive event. The course features clear water for swimming in a rectangular lake section and challenging terrain during the running portion.
For those looking for a shorter experience, there's also a non-competitive swim option covering just 400 meters in open waters. This allows individuals of all ages to enjoy the beautiful setting without pressure from competition.
The event takes place at the Bootshaus Saalthal-Alter facility and is organized by the Saalfelder Schwimmverein club. Interested swimmers can find detailed rules on their official website. On-site registration will be available between 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM for those who haven't pre-registered.
Due to limited space, only up to 140 participants are allowed in the competitive categories of Saalfelder Stauseemeile and Alter-Biquadrat. Once this number is reached, no further registrations will be accepted.
The day's highlight comes at 1:00 PM when swimmers take off from the starting line for a thrilling race that combines endurance swimming with an invigorating run through stunning landscapes.
