38th Trig Points Race

Nestled within the heart of Staffordshire, the Cannock Chase Trig Running Race offers an exhilarating off-road adventure for trail runners seeking a challenge. This race is not just about covering distance; it's about conquering elevation and navigating through diverse terrain that includes dense forest singletrack, sandy climbs, and expansive heathland.
The course features five mandatory checkpoints scattered across the landscape, each offering unique challenges as well as rewarding views from elevated trig points. Runners must visit these checkpoints in sequence: Castle Ring (043 128), Moors Gorse (025 151), Glacial Boulder (980 181) and finally return to Milford Common (975 210). Self-navigation is key, as participants must rely on their map-reading skills to reach each checkpoint.
The race begins with an early start option for those expecting a longer duration. Competitors who anticipate finishing in over three hours are encouraged to opt for this earlier departure time to ensure smooth course management and enjoyment for all runners. The main start is scheduled at 11:00 AM, located east of Dora Rose nursing home near Milford Common.
Registration takes place from 9:30 AM until 10:30 AM at the Milford Hall Cricket Club or nearby hard-standing area if available. A race-specific map can be purchased through SiEntries and is also downloadable on the Mercia website for thorough preparation.
Upon completing your run, head back to registration where you will download your finishing time and return any electronic timing devices. Post-race festivities await at the Milford Hall Cricket Club with complimentary refreshments and opportunities to socialize with fellow runners. Additionally, changing rooms and showers are provided on-site.
The Cannock Chase Trig Running Race is limited to 175 competitors, ensuring a more intimate race experience.
