The Endurance Store Open Water Swim

Open water swimming takes place every Wednesday evening, 7-8pm and Saturday morning, 8:30-10:00am at 3 Sisters Waterski, in Wigan. Both sessions are social lapped swimming and must be booked in advance / online. Parking is free. The venue is perfect for novices as you can stand up in much of the lake and we have water safety cover in place. To swim, you must be 12 years of age or older 3 Sisters is the best venue for novices as there’s a shallow 750m loop, it’s safe and the water is clear and clean. There’s lots of novices joining us each week, so please don’t be nervous about coming along. There is a safe cold water dipping area where you can become acclimatised to the temperature or safely dip without a wetsuit. 1. Swimming in the open lake is allowed from 12 years of age onwards (no younger). All 12-15 year old swimmers MUST wear a swim float AND a wetsuit (no skins) and should be accompanied by an adult or swim buddy. 2. Swimmers aged 16+ who are wearing a wetsuit, do not need a swim float, but we would still advise them to use one. All swimmers 16+ who are swimming in ‘skins’ MUST use a swim float. 3. All swimmers must wear a bright coloured swim cap for visibility purposes. Please don’t wear a dark coloured cap. 4. We’d ask you to use common sense in conjunction with these guidelines. Just because a 12 year old is allowed to swim in the open lake doesn’t mean they should. We would expect them to be club / strong swimmers. Likewise an adult swimmer with zero experience, should not be swimming skins without prior advice. The rules above are not changeable, but please do ask advice if you’re unsure or a novice.
