Experience the Brandywine Valley Tour, celebrating its 50th year on Sunday, August 23rd, 2026. Organized by the Delaware Valley Bicycle Club, this fully supported tour promises to be an unforgettable journey through picturesque landscapes and historic sites. Choose from five routes tailored for various skill levels: a guided 20-mile ride suitable for experienced cyclists seeking a shorter option; a charming 35-mile route offering delightful views of quaint towns and equestrian farms with rest stops at Harmony Rest Stop; the scenic 50-mile course, boasting flat stretches interspersed with hills that add to its appeal; the awe-inspiring 66-mile journey through Chester County into Lancaster County, featuring rolling farmlands and a visit to Octorara Creek; or challenge yourself on the grueling but rewarding 100-mile route, which weaves through townscapes and countryside with picturesque covered bridges. Each of these routes is marked by low-traffic paved roads that wind through lush Chester County hills known for their thoroughbred horse farms. The longer courses venture into Lancaster County’s horse and buggy farm areas. A highlight for history enthusiasts will be the stop at Paradise, named aptly to celebrate century riders. Cyclists on the 50-mile and 100-mile routes will end with a refreshing ice cream treat from one of the region's finest "cow-to-cone" farms. Participants are required to bring their own well-maintained bicycles and helmets. The tour provides cue sheets for navigation, though GPS devices can also be used. Signs will mark major route splits but no road markings are present on the course. Class II e-bikes with throttles are not permitted. SAG vehicles operate until 5 p.m., ensuring that riders have support throughout their journey. All routes commence at Charles F. Patton Middle School, located at 760 Unionville Road in Kennett Square PA 19348. Your participation directly benefits the community. Proceeds after expenses are distributed to local trail and park initiatives, non-profit cycling organizations, and educational programs for schools and sports teams. Early registration is available until May 31st, 2026; regular registrations close on August 19th, with late fees applying thereafter. Join us for an adventure that combines natural beauty, rich history, and the camaraderie of fellow cyclists as we celebrate over five decades of this beloved event.
