Welcome to the 6th edition of the Brockenhörers, an exhilarating mountain time trial and race up Mount Brocken. This annual challenge takes place amidst the breathtaking Harz Mountains in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The event promises a unique blend of scenic beauty and challenging terrain that tests runners’ endurance and determination. Participants can expect varied weather conditions typical for this location—cool temperatures, fog, rain, or even snow at higher elevations. However, if you're lucky, the day might be clear with warm sunshine—a perfect autumnal Altweibersommer day to enjoy the stunning scenery around Mount Brocken. This year’s event is generously supported by Harzer Volksbank, Etikon, and Stadtwerke Wernigerode, who have been long-standing partners in making this race a success. The 2025 Brockenhörers features several new elements while maintaining beloved traditions. The mountain bike route has returned with a distance of 15km from the starting point at Floßplatz in Wernigerode. Additionally, there is a running track covering 24 kilometers along the challenging terrain. Both routes start and finish on the Winterbergtor street near Eisarena. Organizers have hinted that this year’s course will be even more extensive with an increase in elevation meters to provide runners and cyclists with an extra challenge. The exact route details are still being finalized, but participants can look forward to surprises along the way. The event also includes ski roller tracks for those who enjoy winter sports on wheels. Special mention goes to a modified team competition where only three teams will be officially recognized in each category, adding an element of strategy and camaraderie among competitors. Race day amenities include additional tents set up near the track and reserved rooms at Jugendherberge Schierke should weather conditions necessitate shelter for participants. The finish line remains on its usual spot: a large open area where all categories conclude their races. Awards will be given to top performers in various disciplines, including road cycling time trials from first place down to fourth; the best walkers and e-bikers are also recognized alongside traditional categories like 3-person teams for BDR (Bund Deutscher Radfahrer) events. Furthermore, there’s a Harz championship and state championships/landes-pokal Sachsen Anhalt in mountain time trials along with double race classifications. For younger participants, special start money is provided to encourage their involvement early on. The Brockenhörers are also part of the Eastern Tour this year, serving as both an individual event and a concluding competition where overall winners from 15 different events across Saxony-Anhalt will be celebrated for their achievements throughout the season. Partners such as Casco Helmets, Pfeffi, Sebamed, and Vin'Osteria Montevino in Schierke contribute to making this event memorable. Their support includes providing prizes like attractive trophies and fine gifts for participants who accumulate points over multiple races including the Harzer Radmarathon - Harzumrundung on June 27th, 2026. Harzkreis-sport.de will present live updates during race day while Harzmedia offers media coverage to keep everyone informed about all aspects of this exciting event.
