Join us for the sixth edition of the Franconian Backyard Ultra, an endurance race that challenges runners to complete one loop every hour on the dot. Each lap covers 6.7 kilometers and participants must start each subsequent lap exactly at the top of the hour or be disqualified from the event.
This year, we're excited to introduce a Family Trail option for those who want to enjoy the experience with their loved ones in a more relaxed setting. The Family Trail consists of shorter laps that are 2.3 kilometers long and must be completed every half-hour. This route is designed to accommodate runners of all ages and abilities.
The event kicks off on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM for the Family Trail participants. While the main Backyard Ultra has already reached full capacity, there's still plenty of room for families looking to participate in this unique challenge together.
Participants are encouraged to join our WhatsApp chat group where they can connect with other runners and share tips and experiences leading up to race day. Donations will be collected at a rate of €1 per completed lap until the 15th round, so please ensure you have made your payment before starting each new loop; otherwise, you may not officially start.
For those interested in custom event t-shirts, pre-orders are available through July 31, 2026. If you need to cancel your registration after August 15, we can refund €45 of the entry fee as long as it's before this date and any additional charges for shirts or services will also be reimbursed. Please provide us with your banking details or PayPal information so that we may process your refund promptly.
The Family Trail is open to teams consisting of members from various age categories: 5-8 years, 9-12 years, and 13-17 years old. Each team must include at least one member within these designated groups, with the youngest participant determining the overall category for the group. All teammates are expected to complete each lap together without any significant delays between finish times.
This event promises an engaging atmosphere filled with camaraderie and support as runners from all walks of life come together in Franconia's beautiful natural setting.
