The Vindeln Winter Classic, set to take place on February 28, 2027, invites skiers of all abilities to experience the breathtaking beauty and challenging terrain of northern Sweden. This multi-distance race offers four distinct courses: a full marathon at 76 km from Vindeln, a half-marathon at 42 km starting in Botsmark, an intermediate distance of 24 km beginning near Åkullsjön, and a shorter sprint event covering 14 km around Överklinten. Participants can collect their number tags and chips for timing purposes before the start. For the longest course from Vindeln, registration begins at Spegelsalen leisure center in Vindeln starting at 07:30 AM. The race kicks off promptly at 9:00 AM with a scenic route through snow-covered forests and frozen lakes. The half-marathon event originating in Botsmark starts at the school grounds at 8:00 AM, allowing ample time for participants to collect their tags before setting out on an exhilarating journey. The start is scheduled for 9:30 AM, offering a mix of flat terrain and challenging inclines along picturesque trails. The intermediate distance from Åkullsjön starts with tag collection at Hällgärda sports field beginning at 8:30 AM, followed by the race departure at 10:00 AM. This course winds through serene landscapes featuring varied elevations and snow-covered pathways that test endurance and technique alike. The sprint event from Överklinten begins with tag collection inside Folkets Hus starting at 7:30 AM, with a start time of 9:00 AM. Skiers will face shorter but more intense segments designed to showcase speed and agility on the frozen terrain. In addition to individual races, there are relay options for teams looking to share the challenge. The long relay covers all four courses in sequence, while the short relay focuses on Botsmark's half-marathon route split among three team members. Throughout the race day, participants will encounter hydration stations every 5th-6th kilometer starting from Vindel Ånäset onwards, offering essential fluids and energy bars. The finish line awaits at Bruksområdet in Robertsfors, where a new system ensures efficient collection of personal items post-race. Competitors can look forward to receiving light refreshments such as coffee or tea along with sandwiches upon presenting their number tags near the finish area in Robertsfors parish hall. Prizes will be awarded approximately 30-40 minutes after crossing the line, recognizing top performers in both men's and women’s categories for each distance. Showers and sauna facilities are available adjacent to Jenningsskolan near the finish line for those looking to relax post-race. Participants should leave their chips with staff immediately upon finishing; lost chips will incur a charge of 800 SEK, while number tags can be kept as souvenirs.
