A Midsummer's Night Scream returns to Wheatley, Ontario on Saturday, July 18th for its second year, blending magic with terror as runners take on the gnarliest trails in Southwest Ontario under a moonlit sky. The race starts at 7:00 PM sharp. Participants will find themselves running through Two Creeks Conservation Area, where misty forests and early moonlight create an eerie yet captivating atmosphere. The singletrack is firm but slightly soft, with roots and ruts that feel as though they're alive underfoot. As dusk approaches, the terrain seems to come alive, adding a unique challenge for trail runners. This event has been running since 2025, supported by The RUNEGADE Podcast, which seeks to promote independent media and preserve local trails through this unique night run. With limited spots available, participants can experience an unforgettable evening that combines adventure with the thrill of racing in darkness. This race is not just a trail run; it's part of a larger tradition dedicated to supporting our community. The 8km Trail Run offers runners a challenging course through Two Creeks Conservation Area. The route features uneven terrain and singletrack paths, ensuring an exciting experience for all participants. Elevation changes are minimal but the course includes aid stations along the way where water is available. Participants should expect firm yet slightly soft ground with low visibility due to moonlight only. On race day, temperatures range from 16°C to 20°C (61°F to 68°F), and UV index reaches Very High levels at 8.0. While it's not raining or snowing, runners should prepare for a warm night out in the woods, with conditions that might make them feel like they're running through a haunted forest.
