Action Dash 2026

The Action Dash 2026 returns to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada on June 27th, celebrating the city's diverse community through a charity run. This event is held at William Hawrelak Park and offers three race options: a 10K for more experienced runners, a 5K for those seeking a fun challenge, and a 1K walk/run suitable for all ages.
On race morning, the park will be bustling with energy as participants gather in the cool Edmonton air. The atmosphere is one of excitement and unity, with people from various backgrounds coming together to support Action for Healthy Communities (AHC). Hawrelak Park itself offers a scenic route that winds through lush green spaces and along walking trails, providing runners with both natural beauty and firm terrain underfoot.
Action Dash has been an annual event since its inception in 2014. In the past years, it has seen over 500 participants each time, raising funds for immigrant children & youth programs, adult literacy classes, community initiatives, and more. The race not only benefits local communities but also strengthens connections between newcomers and long-time residents.
The course venue is marked by its firm yet slightly soft surface that ensures a comfortable run for all participants. The 10K race starts at Hawrelak Park's main entrance and follows the park’s trails before looping back to the finish line. A notable feature of this year's event includes an elevation gain of about 25 meters, which adds some variety in the route layout. There will be aid stations strategically placed along the course for water refills.
For those running longer distances, there are two aid points at roughly the half-way mark where runners can grab a quick drink or rest if needed. The weather on race day is expected to feel like an early summer morning with temperatures around 20-25 degrees Celsius and moderate UV index of 5.6, making it comfortable but wise for participants to wear breathable clothing.
