Aldeburgh Olde Marine Regatta and Carnival 10k Mini Marathon 2026
About the Event
Aldeburgh Olde Marine Regatta and Carnival is set to host its annual 10k Mini Marathon on August 16, 2026. Sponsored by Aitch GROUP, this scenic race begins at 10:00 AM sharp from the picturesque Market Cross Place in Aldeburgh. Registration for the event takes place on the greens immediately north of Moot Hall between 9:00 and 9:45 AM. Online registration closes at 4:00 PM on August 15, with adult participants paying £13.50 plus a 54p administration fee online or £15.00 on the day. Juniors under 14 years of age can register for free both online and on-site but must be countersigned by an accompanying adult who will ensure their safety throughout. On race morning, participants are asked to assemble outside Moot Hall from 9:45 AM onwards. The start line features three distinct groups based on expected finish times: - Elite runners (sub 50 minutes) gather behind the green flag. - Regular runners (between 50 and 70 minutes) form up behind the orange flag. - Casual runners (over 70 minutes) position themselves behind the red flag. This strategic grouping helps maintain a smooth start, minimizing congestion. The race kicks off at exactly 10:00 AM. The route is well marked with clear signage along its entirety and will be available for viewing on the event website or as paper maps upon registration day. Participants are reminded to adhere strictly to traffic regulations while navigating roads and must avoid using the main thoroughfare during their run. Additionally, no dogs are allowed on a specific stretch of beach in Thorpeness due to safety concerns. Race organizers emphasize that Market Cross Place will be closed off from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM for this event. Check-in closes at noon, so it’s important not to miss the registration window if opting for same-day sign-ups. Upon crossing the finish line by 12:00 PM, all participants receive a medal presented by the Mayor of Aldeburgh. Trophies are awarded for first male and female runners as well as top junior boy and girl competitors during an official ceremony on Moot Hall steps at noon. These trophies remain displayed in the hall throughout the year. For those interested in raising funds for charity, sponsorship forms can be found via the event website or collected upon registration day. This is a fantastic opportunity to support your chosen cause while enjoying Aldeburgh's vibrant atmosphere and stunning coastal scenery during the Olde Marine Regatta and Carnival weekend.
