Returning for its 10th anniversary, the Allithwaite Running Club’s trail race is set to be an unforgettable experience. Nestled on the edge of the Lake District, this unique and friendly event offers runners approximately 8 miles (13 kilometers) through a mix of scenic trails, fell paths, and quiet roads. The route is meticulously marked and marshaled, allowing participants to fully immerse themselves in both the race and the stunning natural surroundings. A significant portion of the proceeds from the race goes directly towards supporting local initiatives such as Allithwaite School and Community Centre projects. To celebrate this milestone year, all entrants will receive a special commemorative item exclusive to the 10th edition. Race day begins with registration between 9:30 am and 10:30 am at race HQ in Allithwaite Community Centre, followed by a pre-race briefing around 20 minutes before the start time of 11:00 am. Participants are advised to wear appropriate gear for varying weather conditions; hats, gloves, full body coverings, and waterproofs are essential. The event welcomes runners aged 16 years or older (with parental consent if under 18). Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in both open men’s and women’s categories, including cash prizes and local food/drink. Additional awards go out for veteran runners and U18 competitors as well. Limited free parking is available near the venue—entrants are encouraged to carpool or use alternative transportation where possible. The race HQ offers toilets and refreshments throughout the day; water will be provided at the finish line, so please bring your own cup if you wish to hydrate without waste. Hot drinks and sandwiches may also be purchased with cash. For any inquiries regarding entries, contact Event Director Alistair Arnott or John Douglas via email: [email protected]. Final details for registered participants can be found on the Allithwaite Running Club’s website (www.allithwaiterunningclub.org.uk) after registration closes. No day-of entry will be accepted. Join us in celebrating a decade of running excellence and community support at this picturesque event!
