Nestled along the banks of the Verdon River, Castellane serves as the starting point for the Alpes Verdon Tour. This picturesque race traverses three departments—Alpes de Haute-Provence, Alpes-Maritimes, and Var—offering runners a unique blend of scenic beauty and challenging terrain.
The event features two courses: The Grande route spans 123 kilometers with an elevation gain of 2,100 meters, while the Moyenne course covers 96 kilometers with an ascent of 1,500 meters. Both routes wind through lesser-traveled roads in the heart of Provence's rolling hills and valleys.
Participants can expect a well-organized experience with comprehensive support along the way. The race package includes chip timing for accurate results, medical assistance from doctors and paramedics stationed throughout the course, motorbike escorts to ensure safety, and regular hydration stations offering essential refreshments, including one at the finish line. Upon crossing the finish line, competitors are greeted with a hearty meal and a special gift from race organizers. To ensure all participants have adequate coverage during the event, FFC-licensed athletes are covered by their existing licenses. For non-French Cycling Federation (FFC) members or unregistered runners, mandatory insurance is included in the registration fee with option 1 plus assistance.
