Conquer the legendary trails at the foot of the Taunus Mountains in the historic 46th Altkönig-Lauf. This classic German Volkslauf, organized by MTV Kronberg, takes place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the MTV Sportanlage in Kronberg. Choose your challenge on the scenic forest paths: tackle the hilly 21.1 km half marathon with 350 meters of elevation, or opt for the 10 km route, each offering a true test amidst nature. As the third and final scoring race of the Taunus-Lauf Challenge, the half marathon presents the ultimate opportunity for dedicated runners to claim their series finisher trophy. With additional family-friendly student runs, a 10 km Walking & Nordic Walking event, and a vibrant post-race festival atmosphere, the Altkönig-Lauf perfectly blends competitive spirit with communal celebration, cementing its status as a cornerstone of the regional running calendar.

Kronberg im Taunus is a town in the Hochtaunuskreis district, Hesse, Germany and part of the Frankfurt Rhein-Main urban area. Before 1866, it was in the Duchy of Nassau; in that year the whole Duchy was absorbed into Prussia. Kronberg lies at the foot of the Taunus, flanked in the north and southwest by forests. A mineral water spring also rises in the town.
