Annapurna Marathon - June 3rd, 2027 The Annapurna Marathon is an annual race that takes place amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Nepal's Himalayas. Spanning a challenging distance of 42.2 kilometers (26 miles), this event begins at the iconic Annapurna Base Camp, nestled at an elevation of 4,130 meters above sea level (13,550 feet) and concludes in the charming village of Ghandruk, situated at a more moderate altitude of 2,012 meters (6,560 feet). The marathon is held on June 3rd each year to commemorate Maurice Herzog's historic summiting of Annapurna I in 1950, making it the first ascent of an 8,000-meter peak. Participants can choose from two entry options: Race Entry Only (495 euros - Early Bird until June 30th, then 550 euros) This package includes accommodation at Annapurna Base Camp for two nights and a night in Ghandruk post-race. Meals are provided throughout the stay, along with porter services to carry personal gear during the race day. The event also offers a medal, t-shirt, certificate, as well as breakfast on June 4th. Full Package - International Arrival/Departure (Kathmandu) This comprehensive package extends over 14 days and includes hotel stays in Kathmandu and Pokhara for acclimatization. It features airport transfers, domestic flights to Pokhara, a jeep transfer from Pokhara to Ghandruk before the race, and post-race transportation back to Pokhara on June 4th. The itinerary also covers full board accommodation during trekking periods, all necessary permits, porter fees, guided sightseeing in Kathmandu, welcome dinners, celebratory meals at Ghandruk and Pokhara, an English-speaking guide throughout the journey, and a duffle bag with official marathon branding. The Full Package Itinerary is as follows: Day 1: International Arrival Upon landing at Nepal's international airport on May 24th, participants are greeted by Annapurna Marathon representatives. A short drive to Kathmandu leads to accommodation in one of the city’s best hotels for a group briefing and welcome dinner. Days 2-3: Acclimatization in Kathmandu & Pokhara The second day includes half-day sightseeing tours around UNESCO heritage sites followed by a scenic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. On May 26th, participants embark on a jeep ride through picturesque landscapes en route to Ghandruk. Days 4-8: Trekking Preparation and Base Camp Arrival The trek begins with an ascent along the reverse marathon route, passing through villages like Uri and Komrong Danda before reaching Chhomrong. The journey continues towards Machhapuchhre Base Camp (MBC), where participants will spend a night amidst stunning views of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, and Gangapurna. Day 9: Race Day The marathon kicks off at the majestic Annapurna Base Camp with an exhilarating descent to Ghandruk.
