Appalachian 200 / 100

About the Event

Embarking on an unparalleled journey through the heart of Appalachia, the Appalachian 200 Mile race invites runners to traverse three states—South Carolina, North Carolina, and Georgia—in a breathtaking odyssey that spans over two days. This meticulously crafted event is the culmination of ten years of planning and dedication by Run Bum Tours.
The course weaves through some of the most scenic trails in the region: Foothills Trail, Palmetto Trail, and Bartram Trail, each offering unique landscapes and challenges. With a total elevation gain of 40,000 feet over its entire length, this race is not for the faint-hearted but promises an unforgettable adventure through lush forests, rolling hills, and serene valleys.
For those seeking a more manageable challenge, there's also the Appalachian 100 Mile run, which begins on a Wednesday morning. This point-to-point course covers the first half of the full marathon, with an elevation gain of 20,000 feet over its grueling terrain. Both races feature strategically placed aid stations—about seven for the 100-mile event and around ten to fourteen for the longer distance—to ensure runners can stay fueled and hydrated.
Mandatory gear includes a water filter to help participants navigate through natural settings while minimizing environmental impact, ensuring that both nature lovers and trail runners alike will leave behind only footprints. Runners who complete either race are rewarded with an exclusive finisher's buckle, symbolizing their achievement in this epic adventure.
Registration for the inaugural year is limited to 150 spots, allowing organizers to focus on providing a seamless experience tailored specifically for participants' needs and comfort. Additional items such as shirts, medals, and other memorabilia can be purchased during registration or through the event's online store after signing up.
The race route will be released ahead of time but may undergo minor adjustments based on trail conditions and safety considerations. By joining this inaugural edition, runners become part of a dedicated community that shares a passion for pushing boundaries and exploring nature’s most captivating trails.
