Ashtead 10k 2026

The Ashtead Running Group proudly presents the annual Ashtead 10k and 2k fun run, an event that not only challenges runners but also supports local charities. The race takes place entirely on the rugged trails of Ashtead Common, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) renowned for its breeding birds and rare invertebrates living among decaying wood from ancient trees. This unique setting is further enriched by two Scheduled Monuments — an intriguing Roman villa and a mysterious triangular earthwork.
Participants can expect a course that winds through undulating terrain, offering both challenges and scenic beauty. The race organizers have taken steps to mitigate potential hazards since the infamous hornet attack in 2010; however, runners are advised to remain vigilant as no guarantees of complete safety from insects can be made.
To ensure everyone's safety during the event, earphones are strictly prohibited on the course so that all participants can stay aware and alert. The entry fee includes comprehensive race management services such as processing fees, a free raffle, medical coverage, and permits for running in this protected area with permission granted by Ashtead Common Rangers and the Corporation of the City of London.
This event is celebrated as "The Greenest Race in Britain," emphasizing sustainability through encouragement to use public transport or car share. The nearest train station is just a minute's walk from both the race headquarters and start line, making it easy for runners to arrive with minimal environmental impact.
