About the Event

Experience the exhilarating Badfish Creek 20K/40K Time Trial, hosted by MadCity Velo Club. This unique race offers three distinct categories: USAC/WCA State TT, MATTS WI State TT, and TRI-OP TT (Triathletes & Open). The event kicks off with the USAC/Wisconsin State Time Trial Championship at 9:00 AM, where riders are released every 30 seconds. The Mid America Time Trial Series (MATTS) presents a variety of options for cyclists, including Paracyclists, Tandem, Recumbent, and Age Group categories from Cat 1 to Cat 5. Participants can choose between Road Bikes or Time Trial bikes in their respective categories. ABR sanctions MATTS and TRI-OP, providing insurance coverage.
To participate in MATTS or TRI-OP, you need either a one-day license for $5 or an annual license for $25. These races commence at 9:45 AM with riders released every minute on the hour. The course is limited to two laps—1 lap (20K/12.5 miles) and 2 laps (40K/25 miles)—with special age group considerations, allowing those over 65 to complete one or both laps based on their category.
The race starts at the intersection of Center & Old Stone Roads, south of the new Rutland Town Hall. The course features a scenic route through Danks Rd., Old Stage Rd., and returns via Old Stone Rd. Finish lines are located just before the starting point. Riders must adhere to traffic rules and maintain single-file formation during cooldown periods.
The event is open to all road bikes, with specific criteria for Road Bikes defined by ABR: drop or straight handlebars only, no aerodynamic equipment, minimum 12 spokes on both wheels, and a maximum rim depth of 90mm. Time Trial bikes are unrestricted in their design.
Participants can access start lists and results through the MATTS website calendar. The course offers stunning views but requires caution due to its openness to traffic. A rear red blinking light is recommended for safety.
The Badfish Creek event is one of the best courses available in southern Wisconsin, offering a challenging yet rewarding experience for cyclists from various backgrounds. Join us on November 12th at Rutland Town Hall (785 Center Road, Stoughton, WI) to race through picturesque landscapes and enjoy post-race amenities.
