Badfish Creek 20K/40K USAC-WCA State TT Championship (for ABR/MATTS & TRI-OPEN Reg. see "NOTES")
About the Event
The Badfish Creek Time Trial, hosted by MadCity Velo Club and organized under the auspices of both the United States Cycling Championships (USAC) and Wisconsin Cycling Association (WCA), invites cyclists to navigate through picturesque Wisconsin landscapes. The race will commence at 9:00 AM on a sunny July morning from just south of the intersection of Center Road and Old Stone Road in Stoughton, WI. Riders will embark on a challenging yet rewarding journey that includes several long flat stretches and rolling terrain. Notably, Old Stage Road offers smooth, well-maintained paths perfect for time trials. Participants can expect to complete one 20-kilometer loop if they choose the shorter distance or two loops totaling 40 kilometers. For those looking to extend their challenge, USAC/WCA Time Trial participants will immediately transition into ABR/MATTS and TRI-OPEN categories after completing their first trial. MATTS and TRI-OPEN riders have a starting time of 9:45 AM with intervals every minute for smooth transitions between trials. The course must be closed by noon to ensure safety. Riders should bring their own time trial bikes, but the event offers specific categories for road bikes without aerodynamic equipment—a nod to classic racing styles. Registration is open on BikeReg and includes an option for purchasing annual or one-day USAC licenses; medals will be awarded based on licensed status alone. The race headquarters and bathrooms are conveniently located at the new Rutland Town Hall, situated at 785 Center Road in Stoughton WI 53589. Participants can track their efforts via Strava with a link provided for further analysis post-race. Medals await top performers in each category—1st through 3rd places—and state championship jerseys will be awarded to the fastest men and women across categories 1, 2, and 3. These accolades are presented at the registration table within the Rutland Town Garage immediately after all WCA riders have finished. For further details on start times or any queries, contact Steve Wehrley via email at [email protected] or call him directly at 608-512-8078. Registration closes Thursday evening July 23rd at midnight through BikeReg. Join us for an unforgettable cycling experience amidst Wisconsin's glacial moraines and rolling hills, where skill meets scenery in a celebration of endurance and precision.
