Registration for the 2026 Bear Country 5k & 10k opens on December 1. The races will take place in Brevard, NC, a charming mountain town known for its natural beauty and family-friendly atmosphere. Both events commence at Oskar Blues Brewery, where runners can enjoy scenic views along the Brevard greenway. For younger participants, there's the Kids Cub Crawl starting at 9:40 AM, covering approximately 1/4 mile on paved paths. All Cub Crawlers will receive a bib and race medal as part of their experience. Race day promises to be an unforgettable adventure for all runners. The 5k and 10k courses wind through the picturesque greenway, offering breathtaking mountain vistas that enhance every step. Runners can look forward to chip timing, wooden finisher medals, long-sleeve race shirts, and a donation to Mountain Roots, which supports outdoor education programs in Western North Carolina. Additional perks include access to Oskar Blues Brewery beverages at registration. For those who cannot attend on the day of the event but wish to participate virtually, virtual options are available with post-event mail delivery of your race shirt, medal, and bib (US shipping only). Strollers are welcome, ensuring that all families can enjoy this community event together. Dogs are allowed in the brewery for spectators; however, they must remain outside during the races due to safety regulations and insurance requirements. Mountain Roots serves as the non-profit partner for these events, dedicated to fostering connections between young people, their communities, and nature through outdoor education programs across Western North Carolina. Their support enhances the overall experience by promoting environmental awareness and community engagement among participants of all ages. Mark your calendars and prepare for an exhilarating race day in Brevard!
