Bedale Santa Run

Bedale Christmas 5k & Santa Fun Run returns as an eagerly anticipated holiday tradition on December 13th, 2026. This festive event offers two engaging options for runners of all ages and abilities: the challenging 5km race and a fun-filled 1-mile run through Bedale Park and Keepers Walk woodland trail.
The 1-mile Santa Fun Run kicks off at 9:45 AM, inviting participants to don their finest holiday attire. Children who complete this shorter route will receive a special gift and finisher's medal as tokens of appreciation for their participation. Parents are welcome to join in the fun with no additional entry fee, making it an ideal activity for families.
The main event, the 5km race, begins promptly at 10:15 AM. This scenic course offers runners three laps through Bedale Park and Keepers Walk, providing a mix of flat terrain and gentle woodland trails that cater to both novice and experienced athletes. All finishers will be awarded with a commemorative Christmas-themed buff.
Competitors aiming for glory can vie for top honors in the men's and women's categories as well as age-specific awards for male runners over 50 years old and female runners over 45. Additionally, there are opportunities to break course records set by previous champions: the current male record stands at 18 minutes and 15 seconds (2023), while the women’s record is 21 minutes and 40 seconds.
To further enhance the festive atmosphere, hot chocolate will be served post-race. Participants are encouraged to bring their own reusable cups in support of sustainability efforts.
Entry fees for advanced registration include £15 for the 5km race and £10 for the 1-mile fun run (with free entry for parents running with children). A portion of each entry fee, specifically 20%, will be donated to local charities including St Teresa's Hospice and Bedale Scouts.
Given limited spots available on a first-come-first-served basis, early registration is highly recommended. On-the-day entries cannot be guaranteed due to capacity constraints.
