On Boxing Day morning, the Circuit Running Boxing Day Challenge invites runners of all ages and abilities to take part in an exhilarating 6-hour running adventure along the picturesque River Thames. Participants can choose their own distance from a minimum 5k up to ultra marathon lengths within the event's time constraints. Registration opens at 6:50 am, with the race starting promptly at 7 am. For early starts before dawn, runners are encouraged to bring head torches for visibility. The course features an out-and-back route that spans approximately 3.28 miles (5.2 km), allowing participants to complete multiple laps if they wish. The event offers flexibility: a single lap covers the standard 5k distance, while doubling up will take runners through a full 10k circuit. For those aiming higher, there's ample opportunity to push beyond these limits within the six-hour window. Each participant receives a bespoke medal and goody bag upon completion of their chosen distance. Toilets and changing facilities are available at Runnymede Rowing Club near the start/finish line. While official baggage storage is not provided, participants can leave personal items next to the starting area at their own risk. Paid parking is available on-site at Runnymede Pleasure Grounds for those traveling by car. Throughout the event, aid tables will be stationed along the route every lap, offering water, squash, fizzy drinks, and a variety of snacks to keep runners fueled and hydrated during their challenge. Participants are reminded to show consideration towards other path users while enjoying this public footpath race. For more information or updates on future events, follow Circuit Running on Facebook at or contact the organizers via email at [email protected]. The event adheres to specific distance guidelines for younger participants: ages 12-13 years are limited to a maximum of 5km; ages 14-15, 6km; and from age 16 onwards, there's increasing flexibility up to the full six-hour challenge limit.

About Egham
Learn more about the host city, Egham.
Egham is a town in the Borough of Runnymede in Surrey, England, approximately 19 miles (31 km) west of central London. First settled in the Bronze Age, the town was under the control of Chertsey Abbey for much of the Middle Ages. In 1215, Magna Carta was sealed by King John at Runnymede, to the north of Egham, having been chosen for its proximity to the King's residence at Windsor. Under the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the early 16th Century, the major, formerly ecclesiastical, manorial freehold interests in the town and various market revenues passed to the Crown.
