BRADBURY BRUISER

The Bradbury Bruiser returns to Pownal, Maine on August 9th, challenging runners with a grueling yet rewarding course through the heart of Bradbury’s East Side trail system. Participants will traverse a rugged 12-mile loop filled with twists and turns along single-track trails that feature rocks, roots, bumps, and hills. The race is renowned for its unforgiving terrain but also celebrated for fostering a tight-knit Trail Monster community at the finish line.
Race day in Pownal typically sees runners gathering early to make their way through winding roads leading up to Bradbury Mountain State Park. On average, temperatures hover around 20 degrees Celsius, with occasional dips as low as 15 and peaks reaching nearly 25 degrees. Humidity is moderate at about 76%, making for a slightly damp but breathable morning atmosphere. The trails themselves are dry and hard underfoot, providing both grip and challenge to runners navigating the undulating landscape.
The Bradbury Mountain Trail Race Series has been an annual tradition in Pownal since its inception, with each race contributing to a larger narrative of endurance and camaraderie among trail runners. This year’s edition marks the third installment for The Bruiser within the series, following previous races that have drawn dedicated participants numbering around 160 per event due to capacity limits at Bradbury Mountain State Park.
