The Ballymena Runners, alongside their primary sponsor The Thatch Inn Gastro Pub Broughshane, are thrilled to announce the return of the Broughshane 5 Mile Road Race on Monday, August 17th, 2026. This eagerly anticipated event promises a scenic and challenging course that will appeal to runners from all walks of life.
Set against the backdrop of the charming village of Broughshane in Northern Ireland, the race begins at precisely 7:00 PM outside the Broughshane Community Centre on Knockan Road. The route is an officially measured 5-mile track by Athletics NI, ensuring accuracy and fairness for all participants.
Registration is now open but filling up quickly, with entries closing on Sunday, August 9th, midnight BST. Early registrants who sign up before July 26th will receive a complimentary technical running vest while supplies last. Given the popularity of this event, securing your spot early is essential to avoid disappointment.
The race welcomes runners aged 16 and above as of the day of the event (August 17th). To ensure smooth registration on race day or prior to it, participants are encouraged to collect their numbers at The Thatch Inn in Broughshane from Sunday, August 16th, between 1 PM and 3 PM. Alternatively, collection will also be available at the Community Centre from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM on race day.
Parking is limited within the village to minimize congestion; therefore, carpooling with fellow runners is highly recommended. Designated parking areas will be clearly marked for those who need it.
A highlight of this event is the presence of experienced pacers from Ballymena Runners, ready to guide participants towards achieving their personal best times or specific goal finishes. These dedicated volunteers will be on hand at the start line to greet runners and offer support throughout the race.
