Care For the Homeless Awareness 5K Run/Walk 2026

Join Care For the Homeless for their annual 5K Run/Walk, set to take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Riverside Park in New York City. This community-driven event aims to raise awareness and crucial funds for individuals experiencing homelessness within the city.
The day kicks off with a Kids Fun Run starting at 9:20 AM, providing an energetic start for families and children eager to participate in this meaningful morning activity. Immediately following, registration opens at 8:15 AM for runners of all ages who wish to contribute their steps toward making a difference in the lives of New Yorkers facing homelessness.
The scenic 5K course winds through Riverside Park's picturesque pathways, offering participants stunning views and a chance to connect with nature while supporting an important cause. Timed results are provided by Elite Feats, ensuring that runners can track their performance alongside their contribution to charity.
Refreshments will be available for all attendees at the event site, along with water stations strategically placed throughout the course to keep everyone hydrated during this rain-or-shine affair. A bag check service is also offered so participants need not worry about carrying personal items while running or walking.
Medals are awarded to top runners based on age categories, and prizes go to those who raise significant funds for Care For the Homeless through their individual efforts or team collaborations. Each participant receives a welcome email with instructions on how they can set up their own fundraising page if desired, though it's important to note that fundraising is not mandatory.
This event promises an atmosphere of community spirit, compassion, and collective effort as participants come together for a shared goal: moving New Yorkers from crisis to stability through the provision of healthcare, shelter, and supportive services. Since 1985, Care For the Homeless has been dedicated to this mission without regard for payment ability.
Travel options include subway access via the 1 train at either 79th Street or 86th Street stations, walking routes from Central Park West using the 2 train line, bus services along Broadway and Riverside Drive, and limited metered street parking. Participants are encouraged to arrive early and plan their route accordingly.
