The Rocky Hill CX Series offers an exciting opportunity for both seasoned racers and newcomers to the world of cyclocross. This four-week training series, taking place on select Wednesdays in August and September—August 26th, September 2nd, 9th, and 16th—is designed to cater to a wide range of skill levels. Each Wednesday at 5:00 PM, the park transforms into a vibrant hub for junior riders. This practice session is led by CCAP staff and regional team coaches, providing young cyclists with a safe and supportive environment where they can hone their skills without pressure. Participants must be aged nine or older to join in this fun, no-pressure training. For those looking to race, the Junior Race kicks off at 5:35 PM on these same days, followed by an Open Race starting at 6:15 PM. Whether you're a beginner eager to test your skills or an experienced Category 1 racer seeking friendly competition, there's something for everyone. The series embraces all skill levels, ensuring the atmosphere remains informal and positive. To ensure safety, USA Cycling licenses are required for participation. New riders can purchase one-day beginner licenses for $15, valid only on race day. These licenses cater to both new participants and Category 5 racers who might be participating for the first time. The event is hosted at Rocky Hill's picturesque park, with volunteer support crucial for its success. Sign up if you're willing to help out; volunteers receive a reimbursement of their entry fee. The town’s Parks and Rec department has partnered with local cycling clubs to make this series possible, creating an ideal setting for both practice and competition. Rain or shine (with cancellations due to wet conditions), the event promises a memorable experience. Should weather conditions prevent the race from running as planned, participants will receive credits. Keep your eyes on emails for any last-minute changes.
