Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race

The Chattanooga Mountains Stage Race returns to Chattanooga, Tennessee on October 16th through the 18th in 2026, offering a challenging series of trail running events across some of the most scenic mountain landscapes surrounding the city.
Day one takes runners up Lula Lake Trail on Lookout Mountain for 22 miles. The second day features an arduous point-to-point course along North Chattanooga Creek with 18 miles to cover on the Cumberland Trail, and the final day concludes at Signal Mountain with a grueling but picturesque loop over 20 miles long.
This event has been organized by Wild Trails since its inception as part of their mission to support nature trails in the greater Chattanooga area. Proceeds from the race benefit the organization's initiatives for trail protection and expansion. The event attracts serious runners who are dedicated both to challenging themselves physically and contributing to a worthwhile cause, with camaraderie and evening celebrations at the Crash Pad being a highlight each night.
The course winds through rugged terrain on Lookout Mountain, North Chattanooga Creek, and Signal Mountain, providing participants with an array of natural beauty while testing their endurance. Each day offers unique challenges: steep climbs, rocky paths, and varied elevations that require both mental and physical fortitude to navigate successfully within strict time cut-offs.
Weather conditions during this period typically feature a range from 12.1C at its coolest to 23.0C in the afternoon heat, with an average temperature of about 17.5C. The trails are expected to be firm but slightly soft underfoot, providing traction and grip for runners while allowing them to push their pace. Wind is light but consistent throughout the day.
