Chester and N. Wales CTC 87th anniversary President's Ride 2026
About the Event
The Chester and North Wales CTC President's Ride is an annual cycling event with roots stretching back 87 years, offering cyclists from across the region a chance to come together for both socializing and scenic rides. This year’s edition returns to Cheshire after alternating venues each year between Welsh and Cheshire landscapes. Participants will gather at Walk Mill in Waverton (CH3 7BF) where ample parking is available; please park towards the far end of the lot to accommodate other visitors throughout the day. The event aims for a group photo at 10:30 AM, followed by a departure shortly after 11 AM. The ride offers two main routes, approximately 25 and 20 miles out with a 17-mile return trip back to Walk Mill. Cyclists can opt for their own shorter paths or drive directly to the lunch venue at Tilston Memorial Hall (SY14 7HH) if preferred. The hall will provide a warm sit-down meal featuring soup, sandwiches, cake, and tea/coffee from 12:30 PM onwards. The routes traverse Cheshire’s picturesque lanes, which may be poorly maintained in places but offer riders an opportunity to enjoy the stunning countryside with fellow cyclists. Detailed route sheets and GPX files will be made available a week before the event via email sent out to all entrants. Participants are encouraged to form small groups for safety reasons and courtesy towards other road users in narrow lanes. The Tilston Village Memorial Hall, where lunch is served, does not permit alcohol consumption; however, water will be provided with meals, though additional hydration should be carried by cyclists if needed. All bicycles must meet legal requirements and be in safe riding condition. Cyclists are advised to use rear mudguards during wet conditions out of respect for others on the ride. Electric bikes (eBikes) are welcome but riders need to ensure they have sufficient battery range throughout their journey. The event welcomes all cyclists, with minors between 13-17 years old required to be accompanied by an adult guardian. Non-members must secure adequate insurance coverage before participating. Entry fees of £20.50 per person cover the cost of lunch and help maintain club funds; refunds are not available due to this reason. The Chester and North Wales CTC President's Ride promises a day filled with camaraderie, scenic views, and the joy of cycling in Cheshire’s charming countryside. Don’t miss out on celebrating alongside fellow cyclists during this long-standing tradition. Enjoy your ride!
