Clipston Trail Races

Immerse yourself in the serene beauty of Northamptonshire countryside at the Clipston Trail Races. This trail race offers runners an enchanting journey through rolling hills and scenic landscapes, making it perfect for both newcomers to trail running and seasoned athletes looking for a shorter challenge.
The 5-mile (approximately) course begins from the historic Clipston Recreation Ground on Station Road in Clipston, Market Harborough LE16 9RN. The race kicks off at 9:00 AM sharp, with no time limit but an expected finish within three and a half hours. Participants will start their journey opposite the pavilion and venture into the countryside through bridleways and minor country roads, enjoying panoramic views of Northamptonshire's rolling hills.
The elevation gain along this picturesque route totals 237 meters, providing runners with varied terrain that includes gentle ascents and descents. The final stretch returns to Clipston via a footpath from Kelmarsh, offering a satisfying conclusion to the scenic run.
Organized in collaboration with the Clipston Recreation Field Trust—a charity dedicated to maintaining and developing recreational spaces since the early 1980s—the race aims to support ongoing maintenance projects including the replacement of tennis courts. The trust has transformed these fields into an area that caters not only to football and tennis but also to a variety of outdoor activities, from forest preschool programs to play equipment for all ages.
To participate in this year’s event, secure your spot before December 2025 to enter a draw for the chance to win a TrailKube. Online registration closes at 7 PM on the Wednesday preceding the race day, with entry transfers accepted until Sunday of that week.
Upon crossing the finish line, runners will receive commemorative medals and homemade cakes provided by Alison Morley and Clipston WI members. The village Women's Institute (WI) is a group of around forty women who meet monthly in the local hall for informative talks, social outings, and camaraderie. They are proud supporters of community events like this trail race.
