About the Event
Welcome to the inaugural Alexandria Criterium, hosted by Squadra Coppi at Chinquapin Park. Nestled heartily within the vibrant city of Alexandria, Virginia, this race promises an exhilarating day for cyclists and spectators alike. The course is a 0.5-mile closed-loop circuit that loops around the picturesque Chinquapin Dr., offering smooth pavement, multiple turns, and ample spectator viewing opportunities. Riders can familiarize themselves with the route before the event or attend any scheduled preview sessions to ensure a seamless race day experience. Situated at Chinquapin Park, 3210 King Street in Alexandria, Virginia, this location is easily accessible via Interstate 395, Duke Street, and Old Town Alexandria. Participants are encouraged to use Google Maps for precise navigation. Parking will be available at the Alexandria City High School parking garage or First Baptist Church of Alexandria: both located on King Street. Enjoy convenient access with designated parking areas; however, please adhere strictly to all posted signage and volunteer direction to maintain these facilities for future events. A USAC racing license is required for entry into this event. For those without a current license, an additional $15 will be charged for a 1-Day license through the BikeReg platform. Entry fees are as follows: Juniors (ages 9-18) pay $20 per race; all other riders pay $50 for their first race and $25 for each subsequent event. Pre-registration is advised to secure your bib number, with a special rate available until Thursday at 8:30 AM. On the day of the event, registration will open an hour before the start time and close 20 minutes prior. Early arrival allows ample time for parking, check-in, and familiarizing yourself with the course. Race categories include combined category races that start together but are scored separately, as well as separate Junior fields by age group, and Masters 45+ starting one minute ahead of Masters 55+/65+. All race starts will be announced via live updates for a smooth transition into your event. Weather conditions won't deter this race; it will proceed rain or shine. Safety is paramount, so officials reserve the right to modify, shorten, delay, or cancel races if deemed unsafe by weather or other unforeseen circumstances. Spectators are encouraged to enjoy the racing from designated viewing areas around the course while staying clear of the race roadway and following all official instructions.
