As part of DLS's ongoing commitment to giving back and supporting causes important to our team members, we are organizing the 3rd Annual DLS 5k & 1 Mile for Lewy Body Dementia! Proceeds will benefit the Lewy Body Dementia Association. Lewy Body is a progressive brain disorder many people have never heard of - despite being the second most common type of dementia after Alzheimer's.
Race date this year is Saturday, August 22nd. The race courses will be out-and-back and mostly flat along the W&OD Trail. Start/finish line will be on the trail at Bon Air Park & Rose Gardens. All finishers will receive a t-shirt (we will do our best but cannot guarantee a t-shirt for those registering after July 22nd). Prizes awarded to the top finishers!
5k and 1-mile will start at 9:10am. There will also be a kids' dash (~300 meters) starting at 9:00am to kick things off! Kids will receive a prize at their finish line.
Timing will be done manually with a race clock and bibs (no chips).
Please come out to walk, jog, run, spectate, or volunteer! There are no pace requirements - everyone is welcome!
If you are interested in helping out on race day, please reach out to race organizer, Kate, at kmarden@dlsdc.com.

Learn more about the host city, Arlington.
Arlington forms part of the urban conglomeration around Washington, D.C. - inside the beltway. In Northern Virginia, and directly across the Potomac River from D.C. proper, Arlington is one of America's most densely populated regions. It has a land area 26 sq mi (67 km2) and a population of 230,000. Despite its density, Arlington mixes the best of both big city and suburban environments. Like the greater Washington area, Arlington has grown over the last several decades in part due to growth of the federal government.
