Counties Classic 2026

The Counties Cycle Classic returns to Franklin’s serene countryside on November 8, 2026, offering cyclists of all levels an unforgettable ride through picturesque landscapes. Based at the historic Otaua Hall along Maioro Road southwest of Pukekohe, this event features a scenic 15km circuit that winds around the majestic Waikato River, providing breathtaking views and challenging terrain.
Participants can choose from various options tailored to their skill level: two circuits for beginners, three laps for e-bike enthusiasts, or six grueling circuits for serious competitors. The race day kicks off with registration at 8:00 AM, followed by the first start time at 9:45 AM. Entry fees range from $65 for shorter runs and e-bikes to $75 for the main event, with an early bird discount of $15 available until September 30.
As a Rotary project committed to community support, all proceeds benefit local initiatives. Cyclists will enjoy not only competitive racing but also valuable training in preparation for the Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge just three weeks later on November 29th. Special attention is given to e-bike riders with a dedicated category featuring 3 laps (45km) of thrilling competition.
Past participants have praised the event’s well-organized track and its safe, enjoyable atmosphere for all ages. With scenic routes and supportive crowds cheering from the sidelines, this year's Counties Cycle Classic promises another memorable experience for cyclists looking to hone their skills or simply enjoy a day on two wheels amidst stunning New Zealand scenery.
