Immerse yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of Glenora for the Cowichan Classic FUN!Run, an exhilarating 5K or 10K race that marks the beginning of Halloween festivities. This beloved annual tradition invites runners to explore the scenic beauty and tranquil charm of Vancouver Island's first estate winery, Zanatta Estate Winery, along with stretches of the picturesque Trans Canada Trail. The event offers a unique twist by encouraging participants to dress up in their favorite costumes for an added dash of fun and creativity. Prizes will be awarded to runners who showcase the most imaginative outfits throughout both race distances. Whether you're tackling the 5K at 9:30 AM or the more challenging 10K starting promptly at 10:00 AM, there’s plenty of excitement waiting for everyone. For younger racers aged 1 to 10 years old, a special kids' dash is scheduled from 10:30 AM through the vineyards. Each child will receive their own bib and enjoy an exclusive finisher treat upon crossing the line. Early race package pick-up can be arranged online until October 15th at midnight or in person on Saturday, October 17th between noon and 2 PM at Glenora Hall. Race day registration is not available, so ensure you secure your spot early to avoid disappointment. On event day, participants will be greeted with a monogrammed wine glass filled with wine (or juice) for those under the legal drinking age, served alongside complimentary tastings in the vineyard’s finish area. All runners who complete their chosen distance earn an original medal and are invited to relax at massage stations run by Westcoast Massage students after crossing the line. Additional swag and prizes include running shoes awarded randomly on race day for those present. Medals will be given out to the top three competitors in each 10-year age division, celebrating diverse levels of athletic achievement across all ages. The event also features a variety of delicious food options and professional photos by Joseph Photography capturing memories from throughout the day. Supporting local youth athletics is at the heart of this community-driven race; participants are encouraged to contribute to KidSport Cowichan through donations on site or directly via their website. For detailed route maps, please visit the official Cowichan Classic webpage for up-to-date information and directions leading you through scenic vineyards and trails.
