The Crediton Crunch, part of the INSTEP Devon race series, invites runners to explore 10 kilometers of diverse terrain through picturesque landscapes around Crediton. This off-road adventure is approximately 90% unpaved and winds its way across general footpaths, mowed grassland, private farmland, and quiet country roads. Participants will gather at Race HQ at Queen Elizabeth School's Barnfield Site in EX17 3HX starting from 8:30 am. Be sure to collect your race number here by pinning it securely on the front of your running top with all details completed on the reverse side. The event kicks off promptly at 10:30 am, beginning with a lap around Queen Elizabeth School fields before heading out into Crediton's scenic countryside via Stoneypark Lane. The route then ventures through private land and quiet lanes for an immersive experience that showcases local farmland and natural beauty. Runners will encounter various terrains including grass paths, muddy trails, and gentle hills. Highlights of the course include running along the River Yeo near Salmonhutch hamlet and scaling Breakheart Hill before returning to familiar ground with a final push through Stoneypark Lane back towards the finish line at Queen Elizabeth School fields. Directional arrows and distance markers will guide you throughout this challenging yet rewarding route. Race day support comes from Crediton Running Network and Ernest Jackson, who provide marshals strategically placed along the course for guidance and encouragement. Prizes await top performers in various categories, adding an extra layer of excitement to your run. Getting to Queen Elizabeth School Barnfield Site can be achieved via limited parking on site or using one of three nearby car parks within Crediton. Public transport options are also available with a train station just 1 mile away from Race HQ. Don't forget that this is a cup-less event, so bring along reusable bottles and cups for hydration stations at the halfway mark and finish line. To ensure safety on muddy or slippery sections of the course, trail shoes are recommended. Headphones must not be worn during the race to stay alert to your surroundings and instructions from marshals. For those who wish to transfer their entry before September 10th, 2026, this can easily be done through SiEntries with no transfers allowed on race day itself. Join us for an unforgettable running experience that combines beautiful scenery, challenging terrain, and a supportive community atmosphere at the Crediton Crunch.
