Dan's Derby and Walk

Join us for the second annual Dan's Derby and Walk, where creativity meets community spirit! This heartwarming event offers two ways to participate: build your dream car and race it down our specially designed derby track or lace up your most comfortable walking shoes for a 1.25-mile memorial walk around Gavin Park.
The family-friendly walk is not just a stroll; it’s an opportunity to honor loved ones lost to substance use disorders while enjoying the scenic beauty of Gavin Park, which welcomes strollers and families with young children. Alongside the serene surroundings, you’ll find plenty of activities including food stalls, games for all ages, a silent auction, and a community resource fair.
Proceeds from this event will support vital initiatives by the Prevention Council of Saratoga County, particularly Healing Springs Recovery Center, which works tirelessly to provide essential services in our community. Derby participants can register online or on-site; car kits are available during registration for those who want to build their own race cars.
This year’s walk features a special touch: memorial photos will be displayed along the route as a tribute to loved ones we’ve lost, creating a poignant and reflective atmosphere. If you wish to contribute a photo in memory of someone dear, please email it to marketing@preventioncouncil.org with their name.
The day kicks off at 8:00 am with registration for games and activities, followed by the walk starting promptly at 9:30 am and the exciting derby race beginning at 10:30 am. While we encourage everyone’s participation, those unable to join on-site can still contribute through donations.
Please note that pets are not permitted during this event to ensure a safe environment for all participants.
