Welcome runners and fitness enthusiasts to the Malta 5K Race, set to kick off the Capital Region's fall racing season on September 12th. This USATF-certified race is organized by an RRCA-certified race director, ensuring a well-structured event with accurate course measurement.
Registration fees are $30 for pre-registration until August 31st and increase to $40 for day-of-race registration. Early bird discounts apply: runners aged 12 & under or over 70 can register at the discounted rate of $25, making it accessible for all ages. For those looking to save more, a special offer allows you to buy three entries at full price and get the fourth one free when adding four participants (ages 13-69) to your cart.
The Malta 5K offers an engaging virtual race option on September 11th with early packet pickup from 2 PM to 6 PM. On race day, packets can be picked up starting at 7:30 AM, followed by the start of the race at 8:30 AM sharp. The scenic course winds through picturesque Malta and features a mix of paved roads and trails, providing runners with an enjoyable challenge.
Awards will be given to the top three male and female overall winners as well as age-group champions in each category from ages 0-9 up to 80+. Additionally, there's recognition for teams based on participation numbers. Prizes totaling $1500 are awarded: over 75 participants earn a prize of $750, over 50 participants receive $500, and more than 25 participants secure $250.
The Malta 5K is not just about the race; it's also an opportunity to support local non-profits. All proceeds go directly towards organizations such as Alliance180, Malta Ridge Fire Department, Round Lake Fire Department, and Malta-Stillwater EMS, which serve their communities year-round.
