The Dart Challenge returns for 2026, offering runners and hikers of all abilities the chance to explore scenic trails on a weekday morning from 9am to 3pm. Participants can choose their own pace and distance within a six-hour timeframe, making it perfect for those with varied schedules or looking to fit in some exercise around work shifts. The event is hosted by Green Table Cafe, which will provide registration services as well as hot drinks and food throughout the day. A portion of the proceeds from this race goes towards funding a new playground at Dartington Hall, adding an element of community support to your run. Runners can complete multiple laps on a 5k course featuring a mix of terrain including gravel paths, grassy fields, some tarmac roads, and occasionally muddy stretches. Trail shoes are recommended for optimal comfort and traction during the race. The format allows participants to compete in as many laps as they wish within the time limit, making it suitable whether you're aiming to complete just one lap or striving towards a marathon distance (8 laps plus an out-and-back section). The event also offers a canicross option for those who want to run alongside their dogs. Race entry includes professional RFID chip timing, fully marked and marshalled routes, stunning finishers medals, water and feed stations along the course. Additionally, participants will have access to facilities including toilets, free parking, trained medical staff on-site, and catering services provided by Green Table Cafe. This event is designed for everyone from casual runners looking for a social outing with friends or family to serious competitors aiming to push their limits over longer distances. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings while contributing to a worthy cause in your community. The Dart Challenge promises an engaging and supportive atmosphere, encouraging participants to set personal goals and celebrate achievements alongside fellow runners and hikers.

About Dartington Hall
Learn more about the host city, Dartington Hall.
Dartington Hall in Dartington, near Totnes, Devon, England, is an historic house and country estate of around 800 acres dating from medieval times. The group of late 14th century buildings are Grade I listed; described in Pevsner's Buildings of England as "one of the most spectacular surviving domestic buildings of late Medieval England", along with Haddon Hall and Wingfield Manor. The medieval buildings are grouped around a huge courtyard; the largest built for a private residence before the 16th Century, and the Great Hall itself is the finest of its date in England. The west range of the courtyard is regarded nationally as one of the most notable examples of a range of medieval lodgings. The medieval buildings were restored from 1926 to 1938.
